Day One

This blog will mostly be the playground in which my writing exercises can frolic. Occasionally, I'll crack wise about something of no interest to anyone but myself. But I like knowing this playground is here for when I want to kick up my heels and let something rip. My first exercise:

Eleven things I find to be true:

1. Very rarely do events or people live up to one's memory or expectation, which is actually quite freeing.
2. Cats make me happy for all of the typical reasons. There's no other animal that so totally fits my personality.
3. I love my grandchild much more than I ever realized I would.
4. I simply could not live without the arts. They are the absolute color to my world.
5. It's so much easier to always tell the truth, even if someone doesn't want to hear it.
6. Everyone feels they are the good guys.
7. Testosterone is the juice that spins the world around and I'm thinking it's not such a great thing.
8. To love and be loved at the same time and with the same intensity is the rarest of things and frighteningly more fragile and easier to lose than one would think.
9. Aging brings both new tolerances and new intolerances where none existed before.
10. Few young people appreciates an education when they're getting one.
11. It's okay to touch a few household germs. Too much antibacterial mania creates an unhealthy and unprotected human.
